18-year-old gets into heated argument with entitled couple friends for wanting to dress as a princess at the Renaissance Faire: 'Your friend is acting like a 5-year-old'

Apparently, Peter Pan is not the only kid who never grew up.

In fact, if you're looking for evidence of arrested development, look no further than a costumed event for adults. This is not to say that everyone who attends events like Comic Con or your local Renaissance Faire suffers from stunted emotional growth. However, it is worth noting that you are probably more likely to find those characters present at said events rather than, say, at the opera or the ballet.

Now, don't get me wrong. Who doesn't love the excuse to look ridiculous by design? Next month, we have a whole holiday surrounding the very act of dressing up as something or someone else. Still, it's one thing when it's Halloween and everyone in your friend group is concerned about what costume you're going to wear. But it's a totally separate thing when people start to pick apart your costume idea for a simple Renaissance Faire. 

Unfortunately, that's what happened to this author, who may be 18 years old, but she was old enough to know that the treatment she was getting from her entitled couple friends was not normal. Keep scrolling below to see how a conflict about a silly princess costume spiraled out of control!

  • There is a special place in “you know where” for this author's friends, who literally suggested that she go as their court jester for the Renaissance Faire because they didn't want people to be confused about who the “real” princess was. This shouldn't have to be stated, but clearly, these people need to know that just because they are in a relationship does not mean they get dibs on who gets to dress up as a princess and a knight and who does not. There are already far too many benefits in this world for folks in committed relationships. Who's to say that single people can't be princesses?
